What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese form of stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. This ancient healing method which dates back thousaunds of years was re-discovered by Dr. Mikao Usui, a Japanese Buddhist in the late 1800's. Reiki is a gentle and very simple yet powerful hands on healing technique that can be easily learned by anyone.
The word Reiki is made of two words - Rei (Ray) which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki (Key) which is "life force energy". Therefore, Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy".
Reiki has it's own intelligence...a wisdom that comes from God. It is all knowing and understands a person as a whole (body, mind and soul). It knows the cause of all our problems and how it needs to be healed. And thus, during the treatment, the energy goes where it's needed the most, regardless the practitioner's hand position. In addition, healing is done through the practitioner and not by the practitioner.
How does Reiki work?
Ki or the life force flows within the physical body through chakras, meridians, and nadis. It also flows around us in the field of energy called aura. A free and balanced flow of Ki is vital to our well-being. Ki reacts to our thoughts and emotions. When we have positive and optimistic thoughts, we increase the flow of Ki, and thus we feel better.
However, should we have negative thoughts, the flow of Ki will be disrupted and becomes weaker. When this flow of life force is disrupted for a long time, it causes diminished function in one or more of the organs and tissues of the physical body, which can lead to us getting sick or becoming ill.
During the Reiki treatment, Rei assesses where the client has blocks and sends the healing energy accordingly to the affected parts of the energy field and charges them with positive energy. It raises the vibratory level of the energy field in and around the physical body where the negative thoughts and feelings are attached. As a result, the negative energy breaks apart and falls away. In doing so, the energy pathways will become clear and healed, thus enabling the life force to flow in a healthy and natural way.
What can be treated?
The universal life force circulates through and surrounds anything that is alive. Thus, Reiki can be used on people, animals, and plants. Throughout it's long history of use it has aided in healing any kind of injury and illness whether small or big, such as: bruises, cuts, cold, flu, headache, migraine, cancer, multiple sclerosis, impotence, skin problems, broken bones, addictions, and much more. In addition, it's always beneficial when Reiki is used with any kind of therapy/medical treatment as it will improve the results, shorten healing time, reduce or eliminate pain, and minimize and reduce side effects.
